The First Annual Conference of the Irish Association for Asian Studies (IAAS1) was held at Dublin City University on June 17th and 18th, 2016. The conference was organised under the theme of ‘Commemoration’ by the IAAS and the School of Applied Language & Intercultural Studies at Dublin City University, assisted by the School of Asian Studies at University College Cork.

Six CTTS researchers – Dr Ryoko Sasamoto, Dr Qi Zhang, Dr Patrick Cadwell, Thandao Wongseree, Olivia Rohan, and Caitríona Osborne – presented their work at the conference and contributed to a lively, interdisciplinary discussion among scholars working in fields related to Asia.

These six contributions underline the strong position within the CTTS of research related to Asia, in particular in the contexts of China, Japan, and Thailand.
